thank you for your response. I believe the problem I am having is the Email ID. In the step (Activity) before the "Send Email" step, the Email address of the peson is being determined.
The function correctly generates the email address and puts it in a Task Container field.
In the Binding screen (bottom section), of the Task Container to the Workflow container is where the problem is occuring.
it looks like this:
&EMPLOYEEEMAIL& <-- &CEMAIL1&
where the &CEMAIL1& (Task Container element) is the result of the function module called. I can see the &CEMAIL1& variable filled with an email address in the "Display Container Instance" of the Workflow Log.
Then the &EMPLOYEEEMAIL& (Workflow Container element) is to be used in the email step, but it does not contain any data (I'm assuming since we can't see the Workflow Container data) when I look at the Task Container data in the Email step.
The ADDRESSSTRINGS variable in the Task Container is blank (it does have one occurence in it, but it is blank).
Apparently there is something wrong with the Binding step when it tries to fill up the Workflow Container variable and I'm not sure why.
